The
International Snow Science Workshop 2000 will take place October 2-October 6, 2000,
in Big Sky, Montana. ISSW 2000 is the twelfth in a series of biennial workshops dedicated to providing a forum for the exchange of ideas between snow scientists and snow practitioners charged with the responsibility for snow management and safety. These conferences were begun in Canada and have since been hosted by either Canada or the US, attracting worldwide participation. The title "International Snow Science Workshop" with the theme, "A Merging of Theory and Practice" was coined in 1982 at Montana State University in Bozeman to foster the symbiotic relationship between scientists and practitioners. Throughout its history, it has continued to develop and evolve while staying true to its basic mission. The Bozeman area snow and avalanche community, is particularly pleased to have the opportunity host ISSW 2000 and invite our colleagues from around the globe to join us in this unique forum.
